We need to talk about weight loss

Published in Cycling Weekly magazine last summer, it was really important to me to write this article and it felt overdue.

When I initially put out a post on social media asking whether other cyclists had felt ridiculed on rides for their weight or appearance, the response was overwhelming.

I wanted to highlight the psychological issues that can manafest when associating ‘skinny’ with ‘fit’ - something that becomes increasingly difficult in a sport that measures much of its success on power to weight.

Thanks to Dr Sean Riebl, Nathan Haas, Loren Rowney, Dr Jamie Pringle, riders who will remain anonymous and British Cycling for speaking to me in depth for this piece.
